Pros and Cons of Remote Working
Here are some of the benefits of allowing employees to work remotely. I believe one benefit would be flexibility. Employees will have an opportunity to get the job done and also find that balance, the work-life balance. I believe that there is a benefit to allowing employees to utilize their skills without being micromanaged, and they have the ability to do that when working remotely. Some of the cons in allowing employees to work remotely would be the lack of interaction with the team.
It’s important for employees to have contact with other team members, face to face contact. They have the opportunity to collaborate with each other and share information, and there’s definitely some power in having that team collaboration. Allowing flexible schedules provides the opportunity for an employer to have all of the tasks taken care of but also allows the employee the benefit of being able to take care of other things outside of just work. Sometimes it sounds a little crazy when you think about that, but employees having the opportunity to perhaps drop a child off at school or prepare dinner for their family, all while being able to accomplish their task for work, there’s some value in that. I think that the employee will find a sense of happiness in having that flexibility of being able to take care of their family and get the job done for their employer. What do you need to manage an employee remotely? Having project management systems in place is important when you allow employees to work remotely. Having project management software in place to manage certain tasks is important as well when you allow employees to work remotely. You want to make sure that while that employee is spending time working from home that they are able to keep up with project milestones, tasks associated with their position. All of that is important to make sure that the work is actually getting done. It’s a difference between, of course, micromanaging and having project management systems in place. We don’t have to know what the employee is doing every moment of the day, but it is important to make sure that the job is getting done. Thanks for watching Tracy Talks Talent.
